Barry O'Brien, CEO, Digicel Jamaica

Barry O’Brien took up the post of CEO of Digicel Jamaica on May 8, 2013. As CEO of Digicel Jamaica, his focus is on continuing to deliver best value and service to customers. In addition, Barry will spearhead the further development and delivery of Digicel’s business solutions capabilities and fixed line opportunities on the back of the potential opening up of that market to competition. As part of his portfolio, Barry will oversee operations in the Cayman Islands.

Barry joins Digicel Jamaica having been at the helm of Digicel Barbados for the last four years. In this time, he has driven the success of the team, taking Digicel Barbados from a pure mobile provider to a full service business solutions provider proudly serving some of the largest companies in Barbados and in the Caribbean. He also had oversight responsibility for Digicel Dominica and for business solutions across the Eastern Caribbean South as well as being CEO of Digicel across the OECS for a period.

A telecoms industry veteran with 20 years of experience, prior to joining Digicel, Barry worked all over the world with leading companies like Motorola, HP, Vodafone and Ericsson.

Barry graduated from University College Cork in Ireland with a first class honours degree in Electrical Engineering. He also holds a postgraduate diploma in Business Management from the National College of Ireland.

 

 

 

 


Krishna Phillipps, CTO, Digicel Jamaica

Krishna joined Digicel Group in 2004 as the IP Manager with responsibility for IP Network and Design for the Group. In 2007, he was promoted to Group Director of Technology Operations for the Caribbean and Central America where he was responsible for managing network designs, rollout, operations, performance and recoveries as well as Capex planning to meet the company’s targets. 

Krishna recently transitioned to his home operations - Digicel Jamaica - as the Chief Technology Officer, where he is responsible for managing both Network Services and Information Technology.

With over 18 years of experience in telecommunications, Krishna holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Studies with Management from the University of Technology Jamaica and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of New Orleans.  His qualifications also includes, over 5 years’ experience in Information Security, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) as well as Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA) certifications. He has advised on Information Security to the Jamaica Computer Society in the past and have also contributed to Information Security Seminars and workshops across Jamaica.

Krishna was recently married and enjoys water sports, pool, badminton, photography, dominoes, and cooking.


Patrick King, Distribution Director

On April 1, 2013, Patrick joined Digicel Jamaica’s Senior Management Team as Distribution Director with responsibility to deliver all retail and recharge goals for Digicel.

In August 2005, Patrick King joined Digicel in the role of Head of Sales reporting to the Commercial Director. His responsibilities included control of the Dealer Channel, Retail Sales and the Recharge Channel.

Prior to joining Digicel, Patrick was at Facey Commodity where he was a part of the team that was responsible for the launch of Digicel’s electronic recharge system in the Cayman Islands.  He has 24 years’ experience in the retail and telecommunications industries in the areas of sales, marketing and general management, including brand harmonization and distribution management.  

Patrick’s expertise has been honed over the years at Digicel, where he has led a team of more than 40 telecom professionals with overall responsibility for a Dealer Channel of 149 stores & 42 dealers; distribution of more than 500,000 handsets and 600,000 SIM cards per annum and providing handset repair services according to international best practices.

Patrick holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Sciences and a Masters in Business, majoring in Marketing - both from the University of the West Indies. He is also an avid sports enthusiast who is married with two children.


Jason Corrigan, Commercial Director
Jason provides leadership to the commercial team in developing, providing, implementing and managing the commercial strategy for Digicel Jamaica into 2010 and beyond. Ultimately, he is responsible for driving and maximizing revenues across the Jamaica business. Additionally, he is responsible for managing all cost lines associated with the business’ commercial activity.  Jason’s key areas of responsibility include Sales, Distribution, Marketing, Products and Pricing.
 
Prior to his appointment to the role of Commercial Director, Jason held several positions with Digicel which includes Sales and Distribution Director with Digicel Jamaica and Head of Sales and Distribution with Digicel Vanuatu where he was integral in establishing Digicel as Vanuatu’s largest mobile operator within one month of launch.
Richard Fraser, Chief Operating Officer
As Chief Operating Officer for Digicel Jamaica, Richard will have responsibility for the Customer Value Management team and the Diaspora. 
 
Richard joined Digicel in April 2007 and was initially appointed as the Head of Mergers and Acquisitions for Digicel Group. In June 2009, his role and responsibilities were expanded when he was appointed Head of Legal and Regulatory Affairs for Digicel Jamaica. 
 
Since joining Digicel, Richard has been an integral contributor to a number of successful corporate transactions including Digicel’s acquisition of Orange (Dominica), Claro (Jamaica), Voila (Haiti) and Netxar Group. In addition, as a member of the Jamaica management team, Richard has played a key role in helping to guide the business in terms of its legal and regulatory compliance. Prior to joining Digicel, he held the role of Senior Associate at the firm Myers, Fletcher and Gordon in London.
 
Richard is a qualified UK Solicitor and Jamaican Attorney-at-Law and has in excess of 12 years’ experience as a practicing lawyer. He has particular expertise in corporate and commercial law and telecommunications regulation. Richard practiced law in England for several years after he obtained his LLB degree from the University of Kent at Canterbury, before returning back to his home in Jamaica in 2007.

 

Conor Looney, Marketing Director

Conor Looney, who joined Digicel in February 2012 as Head of Marketing, leads the Jamaican Marketing team in delivering world class Marketing Communications, Sponsorships, Events and Public Relations.

Conor brings to Digicel over 15 years of senior Sales and Marketing experience in both the Irish and UK markets, gained from his roles at Mars and Coca-Cola.

Conor holds a Commerce Degree from University College Dublin and is based in Kingston with his wife and 3 children.

 


Kerri-Ann Mitchell, Customer Care Director
Kerri-Ann Mitchell joined Digicel Jamaica in August 2000 in the role of Project Analyst and has held several positions before being transferred to the Digicel Group office in the role of Business Process Improvement Manager. Kerri-Ann also held the position of Customer Care Director, Digicel Honduras and Local Number Portability (LNP) Project Director for Digicel Panama.
 
Kerri-Ann’s tenure with Digicel has given her the opportunity to gain extensive knowledge and experience of the business especially in the functional area of Customer Care. Kerri-Ann will therefore undoubtedly add great value to the Senior Management and Customer Care teams in Jamaica.

 

 


Andrea Chung, Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development
Andrea Chung joined Digicel Jamaica in February 2011 and was responsible for implementing a major business process improvement project across the business which focused on operational efficiencies, streamlining processes, and on people development.
 
Before joining Digicel, Andrea held a number of senior management positions in Corporate Jamaica, such as Director of Technical Services at the Ministry of Water and Housing and Assistant Vice-President of Strategic Planning and Corporate Development at Gracekennedy. Andrea holds a Master of Science in Structural Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor of Civil and Environmental Engineering from Georgia Tech in Atlanta. 
 
Andrea is a licensed Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia, has completed several Project Management certifications and Finance courses, speaks French and Spanish and is the owner of Bookophilia, a local bookstore and café. Andrea’s natural affinity for assisting staff members to develop and grow, twinned with her disciplined management principles has ensured a smooth transition into her current role as Human Resources Director.
