Roaming FAQ

1.     What is Digi-Roaming?

  • This is the ability to use your Digicel mobile (prepaid & postpaid) on a Digicel network in another country/territory.

2.     What territories can customers currently Digi-Roam in?

  • Customers can Digi-Roam in 24 Digicel territories listed below:

·         Anguilla

·         Antigua & Barbuda

·         Aruba

·         Barbados

·         Bermuda

·         Bonaire

·         British Virgin Islands

·         Cayman Islands

·         Curacao

·         Dominica

·         El Salvador

·         French Guyana

·         Grenada

·         Guadeloupe*

·         Guyana*

·         Haiti

·         Martinique

·         Panama

·         St Kitts & Nevis

·         St Lucia

·         St. Vincent and the Grenadines

·         Suriname

·         Trinidad and Tobago

·         Turks & Caicos

3.      What does a Customer need to Digi-roam?

  • Compatible handset, Tri-band at least (900/1800/1900 MHz)

  N.B. If prepaid , sufficient credit needs to be on account .

         If postpaid , deposit of at least $12,500 and must call Customer care to request service.

4.     Who can use this Digi-Roaming service?

  • ALL Digicel customers can use this Digi-Roaming service both prepaid and postpaid.

5.     What are these new Digi-Roam rates?

  • Postpaid customers when Digi-roaming will now pay US$ 0.10¢ Peak / US$0.08¢ Off Peak minute to:

a)     Make calls back to Jamaica (Digicel & other providers, e.g. Lime, Flow etc.)

  • Postpaid customers when Digi-roaming will now pay US$ 0.17¢ to:

a)     Make calls to 22 Digicel Caribbean territories (Calls to Haiti are US$ 0.30¢ per minute)

  • Postpaid customers when Digi-roaming will now pay receive calls free.

 

  • Prepaid customers when Digi-roaming will now pay US$ 0.10¢ Peak / US$0.08¢ Off Peak minute to:

6.     Do Customers need to register for this Digi-Roam service?

  •  NO
  1. If a customer is Digiroaming and calls a 3rd country (not Jamaica or roaming country) what is the charge?
  •   The charge remains at the usual rate, J$17.75
  1. If a customer is Digiroaming and sends an SMS what is the charge?
  •  The charge remains at the usual rate of US$ 0.03¢ to the Caribbean and US$ 0.06 elsewhere

            Note: Each SMS can be up to 160 characters long.

  1. If a customer is Digiroaming and browses via GPRS what is the charge?
  •  The charge remains at the usual local pay-as-you-go rate of J$40 per Megabyte of data transferred.
  1. . If I am Digi-Roaming and receive an SMS what is the charge?
  •  NONE

·           There is no charge to receive an SMS.

  1. Can corporate customers Digi-Roam?
  • YES
  • All Digicel customers including corporate customers can Digi-Roam.
  1. Can Dual account customers Digi-roam?
  • YES
  • All Digicel customers including Dual Account customers can Digi-Roam.
  1. As a Postpaid customer can I Digi-Roam if my account is credit limit barred?
  • NO
  • Available credit is necessary to Digi-Roam.
  1. As a Postpaid customer can I Digi-Roam if I have not paid my bill in one or two bill cycles?
  • NO
  1. As a prepaid customer can I Digi-Roam if my account has no airtime or credit?
  • NO
  • Credit and airtime are necessary to Digi-Roam
  1. What are some handy tips for Digi-roaming customers?

  •  Cancel all call diverts with ##002# if voicemail will not be used.
